Unicode emojis vs custom Discord emojis
Unicode emojis (๐ โค๏ธ ๐ฎ) are standard text. Copy them here and paste into Discord messages, reactions, custom status, display names, and many server text fields. The same character works across apps; only the artwork changes.
Custom server emojis are images uploaded by server admins (with per-server limits set by Discordโs rules). They appear in chat when you pick them from the emoji picker or type that serverโs :name: โ they are not available as universal copy-paste characters from this page.
Typing :fire: or  in Discord may autocomplete to Unicode emoji on many clients; custom codes only exist for emojis that server has uploaded. Animated custom emojis stay in chat โ they do not work as channel-name characters.

Discord emoji FAQ
- How do I copy and paste emojis into Discord?
- Tap any emoji on this page to copy the Unicode character, open Discord, focus a message, status, or name field, and paste (Ctrl+V or Cmd+V). On mobile, long-press the field and choose Paste.
- Does Discord support standard Unicode emojis?
- Yes. Messages, reactions, custom status, display names, and many other text fields accept standard Unicode emoji characters. Discord draws them with its own artwork, which may look different from previews on this site.
- What is the difference between Unicode emojis and custom Discord emojis?
- Unicode emojis are text characters you can copy anywhere. Custom server emojis are images uploaded to a specific server (PNG, GIF, etc.) and typed with that serverโs :shortcode: in chat. This page lists Unicode emojis only โ not another serverโs custom library.
- Can I use custom emojis from another Discord server?
- Only if you have Discord Nitro or Nitro Basic and the destination server allows external custom emojis โ and you must be a member of the server that owns the emoji. Without Nitro, custom emojis work only in the server where they were uploaded.
- Can I use emojis in Discord nicknames and channel names?
- Display names and server nicknames support Unicode emoji (1โ32 characters). Channel names support Unicode emoji in many cases, but not custom server emojis โ typing :custom: usually shows plain text. Discord also sanitizes channel names (for example spaces to hyphens). Test the exact character in the field you care about.
- Why does an emoji look different on Discord and my phone?
- Each platform renders the same Unicode code point with its own font or artwork. Copying from here always copies the standard character; the picture changes per client.
- Can I copy multiple emojis at once?
- Yes. Turn on Compose on this page, tap several emojis, then copy the combined string from the compose bar.
- Is this page affiliated with Discord?
- No. Emoji by Creative Aspirant is an independent Unicode emoji reference. Discord is a trademark of Discord Inc.
